The birth place of the famous Hornsea Pottery combines seaside charm with artistic elegance.
Hornsea has a stunning bone structure of the Hornsea Mere, a town centre thriving with independent shops, galleries, bars and cafes and a blue flag beach as well as the large Hall Garth Park running behind the main shopping street.
Hornsea Museum - The town centre has bucked the decline trend with waiting lists for retail premises and the bustling high street has seen extensive investment from small businesses with a wide range of modern cafes, bars and shops. Hornsea Museum is nestled in the centre of the town located in an 18th century farmhouse and outbuildings. It includes Victorian rooms, exhibition areas, over 2000 pieces of Hornsea Pottery, a model railway and model fishing boats. They also run events throughout spring summer:
Hornsea Mere - Hornsea Mere is the largest freshwater lake in East Yorkshire at over 2 miles long. In the spring/summer season visitors to the Mere can have a go rowing or take a boat trip as well as fishing. There is also an on site cafe and gift shop.
The Mere is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area for birds. Those who enjoy walking can also walk around the Mere which incorporates Wassand Hall (see below links for events happening at the hall)
Hornsea Freeport -Standing on the former site of Hornsea Pottery‘s Factory and offices the Hornsea Freeport is home to outlet shopping and leisure activities.
The Potteries
Aptly the site has a pottery painting cafe ““The Potteries” where adults and children can try their hand at
painting pottery.

Hopfrog
Craft beer bottle shop and bar, serving a great selectionof draft beer and cider, along with spirits, soft drinks,, hot drinks and snacks. These are all housed in a social space with a smart vintage feel and comfy sofa’s and tables. Enjoy a drink whilst you play on the 7 Foot American Pool table.
Alongside the social area is the Hornsea Pottery Design shop, showcasing brand new Hornsea Pottery gifts plus a large selection of the classic vintage pottery.
Hornsea Floral Hall holds regular live music, comedy and shows and also antique fairs and table top sales. Located on the seafront it also has a lovely large cafe with sea views.
Hornsea Leisure Centre has an indoor swimming pool including a childrens pool, fully equipped gym and hosts a wide range of daily exercise classes.
Honeysuckle Farm is a working farm located just outside Hornsea and is open to the public from March to September. Children can pet the animals in the petting zoo, learn about farm animals and processes including a daily milking demonstration, enjoy refreshments in the new onsite cafe and take a shire horse cart ride around the farm. The Farm also has an outdoor fort play area and a large indoor play area with bales of straw for children to climb on and explore
For cyclists Hornsea is also at the end of the Trans Pennine Trail which runs from Southport providing an off road cycle track all the way - you can cycle and explore as much of this as you fancy.
If you fancy exploring further a field a short drive away is the historic market town of Beverley, the larger seaside town of Bridlington and the City of Hull which was the UK City of Culture for 2017.
